The 2017-18 Leadership Tompkins Class has been very busy with all of their site visits and meeting many of our Tompkins County leaders.  In February plans were shifted quickly to accommodate cancellations and snow.  They ended up at the Trumansburg Conservatory ( a hidden gem within the Village), where they watched Simon Sinek.  Then onto the Falls Restaurant and Tavern with a local panel from the Trumansburg Chamber of Commerce who led a discussion on business and growth in Trumansburg.  They also shared an insightful conversation as to how the Chamber weighed in on the proposed housing project for the Village.

In March the class will be attending Borg Warner in the morning and then the Community room at the Lansing Library.

April will consist of a joint gathering of both Leadership Tompkins and Leadership Cortland and will take place at TC3.

Making a Difference in our Community

Whether your goals are serving on a board, holding an elected office, mentoring a child, or simply leading others for positive change, this program is for you!

Program Format

The program is comprised of three main elements: a two day (non-overnight) retreat, full-day monthly sessions from October through June, and a variety of community immersion experiences.  Attendance and completion of all elements are a requirement for program graduation.

Tentative Program Dates for 2017-18 are:

September 28 & 29 (two day retreat, not overnight)

October 19

November 16

December 14

January 18

February 22

March 15

April 19

May 17

June 14 (graduation)

Program Cost

The program is $950 per participant.  This includes two specialized leadership assessments (Strengthsfinder and the Leadership Practices Inventory), a two-day retreat at La Tourelle, interactive leadership development training sessions, presentations and workshops from a variety of community leaders, a Community Coach, and all meals and training materials.

Including the retreat days, this costs out to approximately $85 per day. We've found this to be commensurate with the costs of other professional development training in our community.

A limited number of scholarships are available. Please contact leadershiptompkins@tc3.edu for more information.

Employer Support

Please be sure to talk with your employer before you commit to the program. We know many people work very hard and that more and more is being demanded from us each day at our workplaces. However; work with your employer to make participation in this program a priority. Block off the scheduled program days and let your supervisor and co-workers know that you're not available. Employers are making an investment in you by paying for your participation, so remind them of the importance of being at all the related events and training days.
